Nature-inspired art and education in Sussex
About Creative Hearth
Creative Hearth is a new art and earth education studio set up by Lateefa Spiker and Daniel Yabsley in the beautiful Hoathly Hill Community, West Sussex. We offer art courses for children and adults and home education workshops for children.
Inspired by nature and using natural materials wherever possible we aim to offer a nurturing environment where each individual’s imagination and creativity can flourish.
Wednesday and Friday Art Workshops
Our weekly classes are all about engaging with new materials and techniques, feeling free to experiment and deeply connecting with your creativity.
There will be a maximum of 8 participants.
Lateefa and Kristen will be holding these weekly classes, both are practising artists and experienced teachers.
These weekly classes are every Wednesday and Friday (term time)
Wednesdays:
After school Drawing Club for Teenagers with Kristen
For ages 13-17
Wednesdays, Term-time.
4:30 pm - 6:15 pm.
£18 per session, half term commitment required.
Suitable for all levels of experience and confidence. Organic biscuits provided.
Join your peers in the warm and supportive atmosphere of the Creative Hearth studio, where Kristen will guide you through exercises designed to awaken your perception and activate your ability to accurately depict the world through drawing.
This workshop encourages you to truly notice what surrounds you, both externally and internally, fostering a deeper connection with nature and self.
We will experiment with various drawing mediums, including graphite, pen and ink, charcoal, oil pastel and coloured pencil, crayon and more.
We will apply are developed skills to various art forms, such as repurposed sculpture, stamps, handmade drawing books and zines.
Evening Drawing Workshop for adults with Kristen
Mondays,
4.30 pm - 6.15pm, term-time.
Ongoing during term time. £20 per session, a half term commitment is required.
All materials, organic biscuits, tea and coffee provided.
Suitable for all levels of experience and confidence.

7-9 year olds art class with Lateefa and Kristen:
10.30am - 12
(fully booked, can go on the waiting list)
11-16 year olds art class with Kristen and lateefa:
1.45pm - 3.15pm
(spaces available)
Basic art materials are provided. If we need special materials for a project the cost will be split between all participants. .

Earth Education at Creative Hearth
At the Creative Hearth Studio, Lateefa and Daniel offer a class each Tuesday and Wednesady for 7 and 8 year olds (we may consider 6 and 9 year olds if it’s a good fit) (these are stand alone days so it will be two different classes of children)
We offer a holistic, Waldorf inspired curriculum with subjects including:
Humanities
Science
Games and movement
Arts and crafts
Mindfulness practices and health education
Nature connection
Each day follows a wholesome rhythm of reflective contemplation, expansive activities and focused learning. The lessons are taught in our warm, home like environment in a fun, creative and engaging way, infused with art making and storytelling.
Both these classes are fully booked but we can put your child on the waiting list.

Holiday Programmes
Storytelling & Art
With nature connection
Enter your imaginal world through storytelling, art creation and nature connection
1 day holiday programmes for 6 - 12 year olds (maximum 8 participants)
throughout the summer holidays facilitated by Daniel Yabsley and Lateefa Spiker.
The days will begin with a storytelling performance by Daniel of an inspiring tale.
This will be followed by time in nature to reflect and gain inspiration for our creative time. Lateefa will then facilitate an art space in the studio, bringing the story alive.
After lunch there will be time to expand into the beautiful outdoor surroundings and connect to nature with games, free play and wild walks, before going back to continue with our creative projects in the cosy studio.
Time: 10am-4pm
Cost: £40 per day, all materials provided.
